Are you excited for the new semester? Ready or not, here it comes. To be as prepared as possible, it's important to take some steps toward being successful and improving ourselves as learners. Yet, how can we take these steps toward being better than we were in previous months? Well, the answer is quite simple-- organize yourself! You'll be surprised how vital this skill can be when it comes to experiencing a smoother semester. Here are a few ways you can start!
1. Get your binder ready
If you don't prepare your binder with paper and dividers now, when will you get around to it? If you want to start the semester off right, you will get the right binders for your classes and organize them accordingly. Once you receive your course outline on the first day, you will label your dividers for each unit of study (eg. Shakespeare, grammar and ISP)
2. Get contacts
Having a few contacts in your class is vital to your success for studying and asking questions. So, if you can get contact info from at least two acquaintances, you'll be fine. You should never be afraid to connect with new peers, especially when it comes to your academic success!
3. Make a positive impression on your teacher
Whispering and texting on the first day is the best way to ruin your teacher's impression of you. When you show up on the first day, be ready to listen to any information and instructions from your teacher. Moreover, even your class is filled with tons of your favorite peers, this is not a reason to start socializing. You are at school and you must take it seriously. Think about it this way-- social opportunities come and go, but marks last for ever.
